Matthew Alper

NPTR 27

Matthew Alper is an author from Brooklyn, New York who is best known for his 1996 work The God Part of the Brain: A Scientific Interpretation of Human Spirituality and God.  In this book, Alper argues that our concepts of God and spirit are derived from the mechanics of our brain. His quest for the science behind humanity’s spiritual experiences began at an early age, when the author first realized that he was someday going to die. Now he has published his second book on the topic, Icarus of Brooklyn.
